POA Election 2022

Will your photo appear here as a candidate for the 2022 FHPOA Board of Directors?

Will you be a candidate for POA Director? 

There are two (2) openings available on the Fairfield Harbour Property Owners Association (FHPOA) Board of Directors for 2022. Any property owner in good standing** and at least 21 years of age can self-nominate or nominate another property owner as a candidate for the Board of Directors.   

On or about March 1st, an FHPOA Call for Candidate/Nomination Notice was included with the annual billing and mailed to all property owners. It identified the necessary forms and the availability of candidate packets. If you have any questions regarding a position as Director of the Property Owners Association, or wish to obtain a 2022 FHPOA “Notice of Intent to Become a Candidate/Nomination Packet,” please contact the FHPOA at 902 Coral Reef Drive, New Bern, NC 28560: by Email at fhpoagen@suddenlinkmail.com (please put Candidate in the subject line); or call 252-633-5500 or FAX 252-635-2154 with your request. You may also sign-in to the member’s portion of the POA website (www.fh-poa.com) to download the forms by going to “Documents” – “Guidelines & Applications.”

As in all elections, persons may campaign at any time but to be officially placed on the ballot, completed forms must be submitted to the POA Office no later than May 2, 2022, by the close of business at 4:30 pm EST.

If you become a candidate and want your picture and biography to be published in The Beacon, it is your responsibility to provide that information, via electronic file, to The Beacon by May 15, 2022. Please refer to the instructions on the FH-POA website or contact The Beacon editor directly if you have any questions about how to submit your picture and biography for publication.

**Members are considered in “good standing” if and only if all fees, dues and fines (including dues for 2022) are paid in full by May 2, 2022.

Countdown to FHPOA Annual Meeting

March 1 – Board of Directors Call for Nominations Announcement is to be included with the billing of the 2022 POA Dues statement mailed to all POA members.  The Nomination Announcement will outline what is to be submitted by those seeking the office of Director.

May 2Deadline: Notices of Intent to Become a Candidate must be submitted by 4:30 pm, close of business to the FHPOA Office, 902 Coral Reef Drive, New Bern, NC 28560   (Note: to be a Nominee, one must be a member in good standing, meaning all dues/fees for 2022 must be paid in full by close of business May 2, 2022. If not in good standing, the individual cannot be a Nominee for one of the open Board positions)

May 6Deadline: Withdrawal of existing candidacy (prior to official ballot printing) must be requested/withdrawn by 4:30 pm, close of business. 

May 11Meet the Candidates Night. Candidate participation is not mandatory, but this event is scheduled should they wish to do so, as a service to the community and candidates.  The Board remains neutral in all elections, and all candidates are given equal notice and opportunity to participate

May 11 – Official Notice of Annual Meeting to be mailed including the Agenda 

May 15Deadline: For candidate to notify The Beacon and submit information and photo if interested in having it published in the upcoming issue. This is the candidate’s responsibility to contact The Beacon directly if s/he wishes to have information published in The Beacon

May 18 – FHPOA Board of Directors Election Materials to be mailed identifying those member/candidates in good standing who are running for office to include:

  1. Absentee/Mail-in Ballot for FHPOA Board of Directors election vote 
  2. Completed and confirmed Notices of Intent or Nomination Forms submitted by the candidates, photo-copied exactly as received (Note: The form submitted will not be edited or corrected for errors-each candidate should carefully proof-read her/his form before submitting)
  3. Candidates vitae (if provided by candidate) photo-copied exactly as received 

June 15 – Deadline for return of FHPOA Election of Directors absentee/mail-in ballots by close of business, 4:30 pm. 

June 15 to June 29 – Tabulation and recording of absentee/mail-in ballots for the 2022 FHPOA Election of Directors by the CPA firm
June 29 – FHPOA Annual Meeting; results of the election of directors to be announced.
